Welcome

Viniyoga
Viniyoga (prefixes vi and ni plus yoga) is an ancient Sanskrit term that implies differentiation, adaptation, and appropriate application.
The practices of Yoga provide the means to bring out the best in each practitioner. This requires an understanding of a person's present condition, personal potential, appropriate goals and the means available. Just as every person is different, these aspects will vary with each individual.
The American Viniyoga Institute uses the term Viniyoga to refer to an approach to Yoga that adapts the various means and methods of practice to the unique condition, needs and interests of each individual - giving each practitioner the tools to individualize and actualize the process of self-discovery and personal transformation.
This approach to yoga evolved out of the teachings transmitted by T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar of Madras, India.
Purpose of Yoga
Yoga can be practiced by anyone regardless of their physical, ethnic or spiritual background. There is an appropriate practice for everyone. Connecting with a teacher who you can relate to is essential.
In ancient times yoga was only practiced one on one with a teacher. In this way, it was geared to exactly what was needed in the moment. Today, there is an unfortunate “standardization” that is taking place in the yoga culture. True yoga is breathing and moving your body in a way that is appropriate for your age and condition. It should be a pleasurable experience, never forced or exaggerated to achieve something. We are already perfection. In the early tradition, yogaʼs intention was to breathe, help, and serve. The relationship between teacher and student, service, generosity, giving and receiving is an integral process of spiritual growth and advancement.
Mauraʼs mission is to help otherʼs awaken to their inner purpose. We share this purpose to awaken with every being on the planet. It is the purpose of humanity. Through connecting with the breath and finding stillness we move beyond thought, beyond ego. We are never more essentially, more deeply, ourselves than when we are still - we are consciousness - unconditioned, formless, eternal. Our planet is very fragile right now. Taking care of ourselves and connecting with human Beings is crucial to the survival of all. When we touch moments of stillness, awareness with other beings it is the most essential factor in our relationships for the health of our planet. We create a deeper intimacy with what is true and real. We recognize that we are all one.
